LOCAL FAMILY MOVES INTO NEW HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOME, JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The Lopez Family to Receive Keys in Housewarming Ceremony Saturday
Los Angeles, CA – Dec. 8, 2007: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (www.habitatla.org) and three Los Angeles area Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chapters have completed their work on a home in partnership with The Lopez Family. On Saturday, December 8th Habitat for Humanity representatives, Thrivent Financial representatives, Lutheran volunteers, and the Lopez family will gather to celebrate homeownership for Maria Lopez and present her family with keys to their new home.

WHY: Maria Lopez, a single mother of four who was living in a converted garage, will be moving into her new home and celebrating homeownership thanks to a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial. The Thrivent Builds program partners with Habitat for Humanity to build safe, affordable housing nationwide. The Lopez’ home is the second to be fully-funded by the organization in Los Angeles in just two years. Volunteers broke ground last March and the home is now ready for the Lopez family to move in, just in time for the Holidays!
