This Guest Blogger's Support is Music to Our Ears

Two years after doing this for the first time, I’m inviting once again everybody I know to come to an Early Music concert at Ascension Lutheran Church that I am organizing. Renaissance and barock music, for a capella groups, some solos, a brass quintet, a lute, piano, and other instrumental performances are going to be presented. Bach, Dowland, Gabrieli, Handel, Isaac, and Schuetz are among the composers to be performed.

The purpose of the concert is twofold: For one, I wish to emphasize Early Music, because I think it is very beautiful, and deserves much more attention than currently the case, at least in LA and the South Bay. The other purpose is to support Habitat for Humanity, which supports people of low-income to build a home that they can call their own, helping not only with money but also by direct hands-on help in the construction of homes.

A donation of $10 is suggested to benefit this organization. A very short verbal introduction into the work of Habitat for Humanity will be presented at half time. Personally, I’m going to hold a short speech and sing in a solo quartet. I hope that you can come to enjoy the relaxed and calm atmosphere of a late Sunday afternoon listening to this music. The concert is performed by musicians from within and around the Ascension Lutheran Church community on September 12, 2010, at 5:30 p.m., at Ascension Lutheran Church, 26231 Silver Spur Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, (310) 373-0454 Admission is free; a donation of $10 is suggested to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
