It was wonderful to be included once again in
AEG’s Seasonof Giving celebration at L.A. Live! We are fortunate to partner with AEG
throughout the year and are grateful for their continued support.
Every day in December, AEG honors a local non-profit at the
LA Kings Holiday Ice rink at L.A.
Live. In 2010, we
surprisedthe Royce family during this event, giving them the news that they had been
selected to become a partner homeowner.
This year we introduced another special homeowner family, however their
story is a bit different. This
family has been a partner homeowner for over 20 years and this year they reached
a significant milestone. Toshia
Williams has the distinction of being the first Habitat for Humanity GLA homeowner
to have fully paid off her mortgage!
Toshia partnered with us 22 years ago to build her
home. She was a single mother
determined to give her children a better life. Toshia says that her family and friends were concerned that
it was too good to be true, but she was not swayed. She believed in Habitat for Humanity, she built
her home, she changed her family’s life and now she is one of our greatest advocates.
Congratulations to Toshia and her family!
This past year has been an exciting one, as we have built
and rehabilitated over 100 homes, transforming foreclosed homes and
neighborhoods, thanks to our volunteers and sponsors. As we look toward 2013, I encourage everyone to
reflect on the generous support you have given us all year long and remember
the wonderful families whose lives have been forever changed thanks to your
kindness.
We send warm wishes to all the families with whom we have
the privilege of serving everyday.
You are the reason we do what we do and we are proud to have you all as
a part of our Habitat for Humanity GLA family.
