Construction is flying by in Long Beach thanks to Delta Air Lines employees. Last week, on September 8th, the Delta Air Lines family joined us for the first day of their six-week blitz build. The company has partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build affordable homes in seven cities across the country. As well as building with us in Long Beach, Delta Air Lines employees have also landed at Habitat sites in Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Memphis, Minneapolis - St. Paul and New York City.
Delta Air Lines will be rehabilitating a home, which is located on Magnolia Avenue in Long Beach, through October 16th. Twenty-five employees will volunteer on this site every Wednesday through Saturday during this time period. We are currently in the process of selecting a family for this home. Once selected, the family will be required to put in 500 hours of "sweat equity" building their home and their neighbors' homes, make a manageable down payment and pay back a zero interest mortgage.
We are also looking forward to welcoming Delta Air Lines Executives to the site on September 22nd. In addition to rolling up our sleeves and putting in a day of good, old-fashioned Habitat work, we will also celebrate the importance of their support in helping us to build affordable and sustainable housing for hardworking families in Los Angeles.
