Delta Air Lines Volunteers Making Great Time on Home Rehab in Long Beach

Posted by Jennifer Wise, Dir. of Development:

We are so excited to partner with Delta Air Lines this year! The house on Magnolia in Long Beach has changed dramatically over the course of just 12 work days since the build launched on September 8. Each day, Wednesday through Saturday, 25 Delta employees work on site alongside our Habitat crew to rehabilitate this house. Jan, Paul, Daniel, and Larry have been our fearless leaders!

On Wednesday, September 22, Delta executives from Atlanta and Los Angeles joined a crew of 30 volunteers to make a serious dent in the home’s progress. Tim Mapes, SVP, Marketing, was working on sheathing and Barry Matthews, Coordinator, External Affairs and Community Relations, looked right at home helping to demo the roof. Mike “the mauler” Warner, who manages Delta’s field operations, continued to be a leading force on the build site. There were several returning Delta executives, including Susan Yandel and Debbie Brooks, who joined in on a variety of activities including framing, caulking and sheathing. Angela Kozai and Debbie Brooks continue to be phenomenal site hosts and partners. They truly make the volunteer experience delightful. (Read the press release here.)

The Delta employees had an amazing day Wednesday and we are looking forward to another great week ahead of us. LAX ROX!
